"Then I thought, wow, you can get like a dilapidated old boat that is no longer seaworthy and make it a house."

I met Milton Carter when I first moved to New York in 2005.
I was looking for a job at the time, and he was looking for an assistant, but the day we met things went really nowhere; he turned down my application and never called back.

The destiny, however, din't want us separated, and a year later he ended up being the best man in my wedding.

On June this year we arranged a day to talk about his work, taking advantage that his company is going through some changes; new production in Los Angeles, exhibition at the big fashion fair MAGIC in Las Vegas, the new Spring-Summer 08 inspiration ...

The day we chose to meet, he decided to cook a Mexican recipe taken straight from an old issue of his zine Gank: Tostada de Ceviche de Camarón.
Unfortunately the meal needed three hours to cook and there were other errands awaiting for us that couldn't wait that long; we ended up eating a
delicious tuna sandwich with mango salad, and saving the ceviche for some other time.

He loves food and he enjoys good booze. And basically he divides his time between designing tees, worrying about them, partying with friends, and bidding on eBay for very essential items, including a human skull, a deer foot lamp, and a bunch of electronics that probably don't work.

** How long till you buy a boat?

I dunno, its definitely on the agenda. That or maybe like a landshark (rv) to test the waters. I bought some shitty fashion magazines at the airport the other day inclluding Mens Vogue. I think thats the one that had an article about this Green architect who was making a house using an old jet airplane. Then I thought, wow you can get like a dilapidated old boat that is no longer seaworthy and make it a house. I'm really feeling that right now.

** If there weren't BBQ's on summer, where would you be spending your time?

In an Ashram

** What's a summer jam in your DJ set?

Cruel Summer extended mix

** How many cameras, cell phones and bikes do you own?

3 digicams but I just gave one to Zell. Just got one cell phone like a year ago. Bikes get stolen, 4 I guess.

** In how many punk-rock bands have you been involved?

Too many to remember... Mathmatics, Milton Carter Band, the current Caress, with Tedward [of radio show Gay Beach], Tim [ex-drummer of Diamond Nights] and Steve Tanner [famous cook and ex-owner of Pies -n- Thighs]...

[Some Caress song's tittles to be released as soon as the tittles find the songs :

- Bar Maid (I think I'm in love with her)
- Couch Song (Wanna see my new coach?) ]

** When is the next Caress concert?

We are getting the band back together in the fall... we'll see if the egos can work tagether.

** Bill Murray is one of your favourite actors. Best movie?

Stripes kinda made me what I am today.
I just saw Angel Face starring Robert Mitchum, it was jarring.

** Is it Tokyo as pictured in Lost in Translation?

What means?

** How much did your green Stacking Heller Dinnerware cost?

Its not Heller (although I do have a few Heller pieces) its American Bowl N' Cup. It was like 10 bucks for a few dozen place settings

** Have you ever seen someone on the street wearing some of your T-shirts?

First time was on 14th street in NYC, this real hep chick. I felt smiles but I looked like a dork... didn't say anything.

** Current project in progress

BBQ Commando with Derick Holt. The idea is to get invited to the parties and once we arrive, we take over, cooking and all that jazz.
